Biography
David Bowie was an English singer, songwriter, and actor. He was born David Robert Jones in Brixton, London, in 1947 and rose to fame in the 1970s with his flamboyant, androgynous stage persona and his innovative, genre-defying music. Bowie released 25 studio albums throughout his career, including the landmark 1972 album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" and the critically acclaimed 1980 album "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)." He was known for his ability to constantly reinvent himself and his influence on the course of popular music. Bowie sold more than 140 million records worldwide and won several awards throughout his career, including two Grammy Awards. He died in 2016.
